Ethnic Groups

There are six main human ethnic groups on Terrania and, in some cultures, each one is associated with one of the six elements.

 

Luanese

​

Element association: Water

Hair: Moonlight/pearlescent white and straight (no body hair, which makes them more aqua-dynamic)

Eyes: various shades of blue or green and large

Skin: Porcelain, with cool undertones and sun-blocking white pigment (titanium dioxide) 

Average height: 5ft 3in for females and 5ft 8in for males 

Body type: lithe, nimble, and slender

Typical ethnic traits: ability to hold breath underwater for up to 30 minutes and well built for swimming; beautiful singing voices; increased genetic risk of depression; inability to digest red meat.

Locations: Antilia and the Zaluan Islands.

Teravians

​

Element association: Earth

Hair: darkest brown and tightly curled

Eyes: brown, amber, or green 

Skin: dark brown skin with either cool or warm undertones

Average height: 5ft 7in for females, 6ft for males.

Body type: strong and wide muscular build with accentuated curves in the female form

Typical ethnic traits: superior strength; can withstand sun exposure and dehydration better than the others.

Locations: Temar, Casopeyan Empire, and Basabe.

 

Feylori

Element association: Air

Hair: black or golden, wavy, and turns white in their late twenties or early thirties

Eyes: sky blue, sometimes with grey cloud-like shapes in them

Skin: medium-brown skin with cool undertones

Average height: 5ft 6in for females; 5ft 11in for males

Body type: slender and flexible

Typical ethnic traits: more acute hearing abilities; better flexibility; can withstand sun exposure better than Esferi and Ylestrenese.

Locations: Endala, Oroma.

Esferi

​

Element association: Fire

Hair: red or blonde, wavy, and darkens a little in shade with age

Eyes:  ice blue or very rarely reddish-brown

Skin: ivory with warm undertones

Average height: 5ft 5in for females, 5ft 9in for males

Body type: slender and athletic

Typical ethnic traits: extraordinary ability to withstand extreme temperatures; higher risk of genetic predisposition to impulsive behaviour.

Locations: Fridha, North and South Rijun, Wagrad, Oro Island, North Markassia.

Kalivians

​

Element association: Metal

Hair:  jet black with blue undertones, straight

Eyes: silver-grey, blueish-grey, or onyx black

Skin: ivory skin with cool undertones

Average height:  5ft 8in for females, 6ft 2in for males

Body type: muscular and athletic, with sharp, angular features

Typical ethnic traits: denser bone structure; higher endurance and stamina.

Locations: Malrennan Empire, North and South Rijun, North Markassia.

 

Ylestrenese 

 

Element association: Electricity

Hair: curly medium-brown with golden tints

Eyes: amethyst purple or golden

Skin: lightest brown with yellow undertones (fawny)

Average height: 5ft 5in for females, 5ft 10in for males

Body type: dextrous and slender

Typical ethnic traits: increased likelihood of above-average intelligence and physical agility; higher occurrence of hermaphroditism.

Locations: Demekhal, Urkhamal, Xybal, Kama’il, Ur’shal, O’chua, Zo’shan.

Lustreyans 

​

(Formed from the mixing between the Luanese and the Ylestrenese during the ancient war between Antilia and Demekhal.) 

Hair: straight or wavy light blonde or light golden-brown

Eyes: large, various shades of blue, green, amethyst, or golden

Skin: porcelain or pale ivory, prone to tanning

Average height: 5ft 4in for females, 5ft 9in for males

Body type: lithe, slender, agile

Typical ethnic traits: ability to hold breath underwater for up to 8 minutes; increased likelihood of above-average intelligence.
